Sacha Duckworth

Practice:

Sacha has built her reputation as a well known leader in the province on legal challenges to the Immediate Roadside Prohibition legislation. She recognizes that her clients are in need of urgent assistance and often face personal hardships or jeopardized employment as a result of having their licences seized by police.

Sacha has successfully defended countless numbers of clients in IRP hearings before RoadSafety BC and has secured the prompt return of their licences. She has also argued multiple successful judicial reviews of IRP cases in BC Supreme Court and the BC Court of Appeal as well as numerous constitutional challenges to the legislation. Sacha also appeared in the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa on behalf of BC drivers in a collaborative challenge to the constitutionality of the original IRP legislation, where she and her team were successful in having the law struck down.

Her practice areas primarily focus on driving offences: including IRPs, ADPs, driving prohibitions, driving while prohibited, traffic violations, criminal impaired driving and dangerous driving. She also defends clients charged with assault and sexual assault, as well as drug charges, fraud, mischief, thefts, and robbery.

Background:

Sacha graduated from the University of Victoria in 2011 with her Juris Doctor and she was called to the BC bar in 2012. She grew up all over the world and learned to speak a number of languages. In her spare time, she enjoys art, fitness, travelling, and spending time with her husband and family.
