Jennifer’s practice is focused on disputing Immediate Roadside Prohibitions and other alleged driving offences. She currently litigates in both the Provincial and Supreme Court of British Columbia, and the Court of Appeal. Jennifer is known for her client-centered focus, razor-sharp legal skills and demonstrated commitment to community development and social justice.
Jennifer holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from Dalhousie University, where she spent two years as the Pro Bono Program Coordinator. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Recreation Integration Victoria, a not-for-profit organization that assists persons with disabilities to access and participate in recreational activities throughout the community.
Jerry is the Managing Partner at Steele Law Corporation (formerly Jeremy Carr & Associates), a full service law office headquartered in Victoria BC, with offices in Vancouver and Kelowna BC. He has extensive experience defending impaired driving allegations and licence suspensions, representing his clients in the BC Provincial and Supreme Courts, and the Court of Appeal. Jerry is known for his honest, client-centred focus and history of favourable outcomes.
Jerry has a Bachelor of Communications (BA), a Master’s in Leadership (MA) from Royal Roads University and a Juris Doctor in Law (JD) from the University of Victoria. He is also a graduate of the American Association for Justice Trial Advocacy College at Harvard Law School. He volunteers for the Lawyer’s Assistance Program of BC and is a sought-after keynote speaker on the topic of lawyer wellness in both Canada and the United States.
Jeremy’s practice covers all of BC, and he has successfully represented clients in all levels of court. He is passionate about protecting civil liberties and Charter rights and helping his clients avoid criminal records and time in jail.
Jeremy was called to the British Columbia Bar after graduating from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law. Prior to law school he earned an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Alberta. In 1983, Jeremy began his own law practice in Victoria, B.C., Jeremy Carr & Associates. Today, clients continue to be drawn to the firm, now Steele Law Corporation, because of the firm’s experience, reputation, and tradition of excellence.
In October 2012, Jeremy received the Contribution to the Law Award. This award is presented annually to a member of the Victoria Bar who has made a significant contribution to the development of a legal issue, and whose involvement has reflected positively on the legal profession. Jeremy received this award in recognition of his lead role in the successful challenge of the former Immediate Roadside Prohibition Regime, which was found to be in violation of the Charter and declared unconstitutional by the B.C. Supreme Court.
